What a bumper feast of football is ahead. Suddenly, football withdrawal symptoms are easing off.
I can’t wait for the trips to such iconic stadiums like Ashton Gate, Ewood Park etc. and the vibrancy and passion of Elland Road as we host old foes.
Plenty of exciting developments ahead of the new season, too. The English Football League (EFL) recently announced an unprecedented broadcasting deal with Sky Sports, injecting new energy into the upcoming campaign.
All opening, final day, and midweek fixtures in the Sky Bet EFL, as well as games played on Bank Holidays including Easter, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day, will be shown live.
We are in for a treat!
How will the season pan out?
Bookmakers have installed Premier League dropouts Leicester City (6/1), Leeds United (7/1) and Southampton (8/1) as favourites to bounce back into the top flight. No doubt other teams will have a lot to say about that. Personally, I fancy Leicester at 6/1, Leeds at 7/1, and Norwich at 14/1.
Over the course of a season, which runs from August to the following May, each team plays twice against the others in the division, ‘home’ and ‘away,’ for a 46-game league season.
